Joe Platnick is a Partner with Pan-Pacific Capital Ltd (PPC). With offices in New Zealand, Singapore, Australia, Taiwan and the U.S., PPC provides early- and mid-stage venture capital for the Internet, Digital Media, Mobile, Clean/Green Technologies, and Life Sciences sectors.

Before joining PPC, Joe was a Director of the Pasadena Angels ( one of the largest angel groups in the US that provides long-term human and financial capital to early-stage technology companies. Since 2000 Pasadena Angels has provided over $50 million of early stage capital to over 70 companies. Since 2004 Joe has been an active angel investor focused on the Southern California technology sector.

Prior to the Pasadena Angels, he was the Chief Operating Officer of Probandi, a security management company and the Vice President Worldwide Sales and Marketing for NxN Software AG, a German venture-backed provider of technology for the entertainment industry that was acquired by Avid Technology (NSDQ: AVID). Joe’s earlier career included positions in sales, marketing, turnaround, and technical management with several publicly-listed technology firms, including Hewlett Packard and Computervision Corporation.

During his career, he has led international expansion efforts for both start-up and Fortune 500 high-tech companies into Europe and Asia-Pacific, has extensive experience in the US and Europe raising venture capital, and has successfully led several mergers and acquisitions. Joe’s past and present board positions include Teresis Media (digital media), Spin Disk (storage devices), EgoPlanet (Internet), Goodwill Industries, and the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy (a local nonprofit organization).

Joe has been a frequent blogger ( and speaker on entrepreneurship for many local and international organizations and events, including Los Angeles County Technology Week, University of Southern California, Growth Capital Conference. New Zealand Venture Capital Association (NZVCA), Tech Coast Venture Network, and MIT Enterprise Forum. Joe has also been interviewed and quoted by The New York Times, socalTECH, Bloomberg Business Week and the Los Angeles Business Journal. Joe holds Bachelors and Masters degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with a concentration in Engineering, Business, and Computer Science.
